Here at the Great Burn, winter is always a time for us to rest, regroup and plan ahead for the next year. Recently, our board and staff used this time to define our core values. These guiding principles form the basis for our organizational culture — how we behave, how we interact with others, and the way we create positive change.
Here are the five core values that guide our work at the Great Burn:
Community. We believe that we are all connected and that everyone is worthy of respect. We engage others with openness, listening, and a spirit of partnership, as we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable outdoor community.
Hope. We maintain hope within ourselves and within our communities as we continue to envision and work toward a better future.
Integrity. We strive to align our actions with our words; to build authentic and trusting relationships by encouraging open debate without compromising the truth; and to hold ourselves accountable to the highest moral, ethical and financial standards.
Pragmatism. We seek practical solutions to the challenges before us.
Service. With humility and respect, we seek to honor and cherish the richness and wild character of the land while being of benefit to the communities that inhabit and surround it.
