Canyon Creek Restoration Inventory w/ The Narrow Way

Join Ranger Joelle and Sarah Davis with The Narrow Way for a day filled with adventure, restoration, and learning. If you aren’t already familiar, check out The Narrow Way for an opportunity to adventure through Idaho’s wilderness while connecting with people like yourself taking in the rugged beauty of the land. On this trip, the group will learn about the history of GBCA, the Lochsa corridor, and Highway 12. Joelle will also show the group how she conducts trail and noxious weed surveys along the way. Help to plot these points, clean up the trail, and maybe even cut out a tree or two along the way!

Trailhead: Canyon Creek #107, Lochsa-Powell RD, Nez Perce-Clearwater NF

Closest Town: Kooskia, ID

**All volunteer trips are subject to change due to ever-changing fire activity.

Difficulty

Hiking

Moderate. This trip will be about 3.5 miles one-day with 1,600ft of elevation gain. There will be plenty of stopping points along the way to map weeds and inventory trail conditions.

Work

Easy to Moderate. This trip will mostly be centered around learning to be a steward as a public lands user. Work activities include mapping weed populations on a phone, completing a trail condition survey, or inventorying a campsite. Other options for the day may include cutting out downed trees along the path or hand pulling noxious weeds.

Itinerary

We will meet at the trailhead at 0900 PST to start our day. Joelle and Sarah will give a safety briefing and let you know what to expect for the day. Shortly after, we will begin up the trail, learning about the history of the area, noxious weeds, trail conditions, and how to be a steward of the land. The total distance is expected to be around 7 miles round trip. We’ll plan to be back at the trailhead around 1500 PST.

There is no deposit for this event, however we ask you to register so we know how many people to expect and what tools to pack!
